Mosaic

Like the pieces of broken colored glass that makes up beautiful gothic windows and cathedral ceilings. Coming to terms with what is real and what is fake. What does this all  mean? You know that Coach bag you bought last month, those new Gucci pumps you just purchased with your Visa and you put them  in your closet with the other 80 pairs of shoes, the luncheon you went to with your co worker today and spent $35.00 like you are Paris Hilton and you got it like that, and oh that $90.00 twice a month fresh hair do you just paid for at Antonie's hair salon. Oh, we are not finished, your daughter wanted a new pair of the latest fashion jeans to add to her collection which consists of 30 pairs, many with price tags still on them. This sounds like a made up story, sorry, it is not. I have seen mid-high salary single mothers repeat this story over and over again. When the job losses came, the baby daddies stopped paying child support, for what ever reasons, illness occured or life just happened, these womans lives were turned upside down.  Many of them had saved the bare minimum  for emergencies if any and found themselves applying for Welfare and Food Stamps. Let me put my secret out, this also had happened to me and I became homeless with my three sons while I was preganat with my daughter. I was living like a fake. There are single mothers looking like, driving like with $700.00 monthly car expenses, and dinning out like they are millionaires. I know it to be true many real Millionaires do not live like that and that is why they became MILLIONAIRES!!!! To make the beautiful glass to put in the gothic windows and cathedral ceilings, the glass is spun while in a BLAZING furnace then comes out beautiful, brilliant, elegant, flexiable, and easy to shape the pieces to fit. Once you decide to become a good steward with your money, you can truly afford those things that you desire.  I promise you can become a MOSAIC work of art and not just a piece of fake glass. BABY MAMAS CAN BE MILLIONAIRES TOO!

The Learning Curve

I belive too many times we do not stop and think or are conscious of our visions we hold for ourselves and our families. Yes, we all have visions the issue at hand is we do not do what it takes to accomplish those visions.  Many books, motivational speakers, lectures and etc have stated that most people do not pursue their dreams and goals due to the fear of failure that I beg to differ. I have observed from listening and watching peoples' actions that they mostly fear the learning curve.  Learning to do something different than what they have been doing for most of their lives or what they have become accustom to.
When I moved from Atlanta, Georiga to Orlando, Florida with my three small sons, I knew that I wanted more for them and that I needed more than a high school diploma in order to provide the life that I desired to give them. I thought at that time that I could never do math and I had made up in my mind why even think about pursuing an A.A and/or Bachelor degree because I would have to do math. Two years after the orginal thought, I went to Valencia Community College and enrolled. By that time, I felt I had nothing to lose by trying to learn how to finally do Algebra ( lol). I used all the resources that the college offered
in order to grap and learn formulas but it was with a tutor that I got it.  The it was that everyone learned differently and that it also depended on if you were right or left brain person. I asked her a question and she answered it without no hesitation and I asked how did you do that?  She stated, I do not know I just get it.  I was determined  I would get it to. However, I had to work hard at getting it and hard I did. Many times, I did my college Algebra homework three times in order to truly understand how to do equations. Yes, that was redundant but that was the learning curve  I had to endure in order to achieve my goal.  As with any new endeavor be it a job promotion, starting a business, continuing education, or what ever your goals, Once the learning curves have been achieved, many times with trial and error, you become more confident in what you have set out to accomplish. The Magic of Thinking Big

Yes, magic or is it?  Coming from the Human Services field, I have met so many women that felt  they could not rise against their current level in society.  Many came from all social economic levels of society, mostly lower income.  Most are single mothers that are a part of society that is never uplifted, celebrated, inspired, motivated, or paid attention to, unless law makers want to cut funding/budgets then they are the first segment of society that is affected, in my opinion, and are  looked upon as  the AMERICAN PROBLEM.  In America, if you look and/or listen to stats, radio, magazines, news of any media, single mothers are so frowned upon and talked about as if they are dogs in the streets.  The bottom line for me was when I heard a song that stated "I HATE MY BABY'S MAMA"  It hit me like a ton of bricks my soul ached with pain.  Wow, I bet that is how so many men feel, I thought to myself knowing all the stories I have heard from women over the years as a Human Services Case Manager. I'll blog about those issues later. But you get the picture. I was raised in Washington Heights Apartments, the project, and even as a child seeing and knowing what it was to be without money raised by a single mother who worked hard everyday to take care of her family.  I wanted more than what I saw  aound me in the projects and as a child I dreamed of being RICH.  But I grew up, became a single mother myself and went through so much to become the woman I am today..Am I rich, well I belive in the "Magic of Thinking Big".  If I would not have carried that deep desire that I have had since a child from Washington Heights Project, I belive I would have lost my mind. But GRACE is why I am here and why I have a deep desire to help women to dream and dream big. Success in America is not only for those with the college degrees, even though I have one, married, come from  stable homes, etc.......It is for everyone with the burning desire to achive in this great country, America, we are going through this together. Many women I have spoken with over the years confided in me because they knew our conversations were confidential and many had no support group, there was nobody  they could talk to discuss dreams, goals, and things many other women could with their husbands and families.  This is my purpose in LIFE to help women especially (baby mamas) be all they can be and by the way BABY MAMAS CAN BE MILLIONAIRES TOO!

The reason for this Blog is bigger than me..This I know for sure..
